Star Wars: Battlefront PS4 2015 Disc: Hoth Map Play Guide

Quick answer

Install the disc, download any updates, then treat Hoth as a cover-and-flank map: use ion weapons and uplinks in Walker Assault, and keep moving between snow trenches in Survival. A disc-only copy works fine as long as you verify the disc and manage your expectations about case extras.

Hoth survival steps for disc owners

1. Inspect the disc before installing: Hold the disc up to a light and check for deep scratches or pinholes. A few light smudges are fine; clean with a soft cloth from center to edge. Common mistake: installing a deeply scratched disc and blaming the console when it freezes. If the disc looks heavily damaged, contact the seller before you play.
2. Install and update the game: Insert the disc and let the PlayStation 4 copy the data. Accept any update prompts, because online modes like Walker Assault may require the latest version. Common mistake: skipping updates and then wondering why matchmaking fails. Wait for the install to finish completely before launching.
3. Learn the Hoth uplink locations: In Walker Assault, uplinks are the objective. On Hoth, they sit in open areas near trenches and bunkers. Spend your first match following teammates to each uplink rather than sprinting alone. Common mistake: treating Hoth like a team deathmatch and ignoring the uplinks. Memorize one uplink route per side before you try to defend it.
4. Equip ion weapons for Walker Assault: Use ion torpedoes, ion shot, or ion grenades to damage AT-ATs during the vulnerable phase. Pair them with a blaster you can control at mid-range. Common mistake: bringing anti-infantry cards and then having no answer for the walkers. Keep one ion card in your hand for the entire match.
5. Use snow trenches for cover, not camping: Hoth's trenches block line of sight from walkers and snipers. Pop up, fire, and relocate after a few shots. Common mistake: staying in one trench until a grenade lands. Change positions every 20–30 seconds. Pick your next trench before you leave the current one.
6. Adapt your loadout for Survival mode: In Hoth Survival, waves come from multiple directions. Choose a close-range blaster and a heal card, and fall back toward the spawn if you get surrounded. Common mistake: using a sniper rifle in close-quarters waves. Swap to a close-range weapon before the first wave starts.
7. Play without a manual by using the in-game controls: Since the disc-only copy has no printed manual, open the pause menu or settings to review controls and sensitivity. Adjust look sensitivity before your first online match. Common mistake: leaving default sensitivity and missing fast-moving targets on Hoth's open plains. Spend two minutes in a private match to test your settings.
